Hue & Cry Issue 5

Hue & Cry is a Wellington-based art and literary journal, increasingly recognised as a distinctive voice in the New Zealand art and literary scene.

Inspired by a Max Hailstone asymmetric grid we designed this issue with a heavy emphasis on black and white. This issue was different in that there was no theme for the writing so we decided early on with the editor to divide the book into five chapters using large numbers which in turn decided the look of the cover. Each section was then separated by word count from small to large.

Our apologies to Jonathan Borofsky.
